I have a 2007 Dodge Caravan that has been converted to wheelchair accessible van. Yesterday without warning the front driver side strut collapsed where the spring is pushing down on the tire. My question for you is once I jacked the vehicle up and put it on the stands I will be taking the Lugnuts off of the wheel and attempting to remove the wheel straight off. My question is how much more dynamic force is left in that spring. Everybody talks about how much work it is to compress it. Can I take the tire off without hurting myself or is it something better left to people with special tools. My normal garage cannot get to it until Tuesday. My wife is in a wheelchair and I’d really like to get the van back on the road so she doesn’t get any appointments. Thank you. Mark
Well if you jack the entire front end up near so both wheels are off the ground left and right front. Then you can take it apart easily. They won't be any pressure on it
Thank you so very much
