Fuel Filter

I’m changing the fuel filter on my ‘04 Ford Explorer XLT 4L 170k miles and I want to know if I need to remove the fuel pump relay first? I’ve watched several videos on it and some people remove it and others don’t even mention it. Is it necessary? Thanks.

It's good practice to de-energize things before you work on them. A tiny effort to prevent major oopsies seems worth it, don't you think? Especially when working with highly flammable liquids.

You could disconnect the battery instead but why wouldn't you just remove the relay and not take any risks?
