Hello, My car is a Dacia Sandero MK2 (2020) the manual they have me when I bought the car from new is for three different models, so nothing is specific for maintenance. I am watching scotty’s videos like a hawk for information.

My oil is 5W30 oil but finding out what’s been put into it so far is a mystery. I’ve called two different people from where I bought the car. One says conventional oil, the other says fully synthetic. I only drive 2,000 miles a years so I wouldn’t benefit from fully synthetic oil but I’d like to know if I’d be clogging any components by using regular oil?

also about the “life-time” fuel filters, I personally agree with scotty, nothing is life-time, it’s a con to make one’s fuel pump burn out faster.
so because my car is now 4 years old I know I’m supposed to change the filter. But, I have only done 9,000 miles in those 4 years! So do I still change it for a new one or wait until 60,000 miles?

kind regards,

Dan Robins.

Dacia is not sold in the U.S. so it is unlikely that anyone here has any experience with those vehicles, unless any of our members in other countries have dealt with them. Your owner's manual should have the specifications for the oil that vehicle requires. (In general you can't go wrong with synthetic oil.)

As far as the fuel filter is concerned, that's usually an issue of mileage. I know with cars I've owned there has only been a mileage specification for replacing the fuel filter but not a spec for time. Once again, your owner's manual should have that information.

Additionally for future reference, when posting please use the title line for a short description of your car issue, not lengthy details that belong in the body of your post. Thank you.
