Fuel smell from my 95 Corolla

I have a 1995 Corolla dx with 175,000 miles and recently started smelling fuel outside the car. Even in the morning before I’ve used it.
I don’t smell it inside the cab and haven’t been able to pin point where it’s coming from.
I’ve got no leaks under the car but my gas mileage is getting worse.

A couple months ago my car started randomly chugging, typically in the mornings, for a mile or two until it warms up. Not sure if that has to do with the fuel issue or not.

that’s another problem I’ll have to dig into soon. Thanks Scotty! I’m a women who’s eager to dive into fixing what I can on my car although I know next to nothing. Your videos help.

All the rubber parts on a nearly 27-year-old car are suspect. Check fuel and vapor recovery lines.

So I just realized it’s dripping out my exhaust at the very least. The grass is dead under It.

If you had so much gasoline going into the engine that it was dripping out of the exhaust the engine would not even run. What you are seeing is likely condensation (water). Of course if the engine is running too rich you may well get some gas smell but there would be black smoke as well and your spark plugs would be carbon fouled.

I’m going to start by switching out my fuel injectors and then start checking lines and what not I believe. I got a fuel system cleaner today to add to my tank on the off chance it would clean out junk and magically fix it. Wishful thinking I’m sure.

Before changing expensive bits, like the injectors, start with the simple things first -

So just an update nobody cares to hear lol I jacked up the car and found a small dent in my tank that I think came from going down a semi off road ‘trail’ with major potholes. There was the tiniest sliver where the dent was that seemed to be slowly leaking fuel.

I got jb weld tank repair and placed it in it tonight. Going to give it a day to cure and see if it ends up closing her up.
