Full-size tundra with a V6

Hi Scotty, would you recommend a 2014 Toyota tundra with the 4.0 L V6? I want a full-size truck but I don’t need a V8 engine. I’d like the Tacoma‘s, but they feel too small for me.

Toyota Tundras are solid vehicles if taken halfway decent care of. If you're not doing any serious hauling, they can do just fine. I scrap with my 2014 F-150 with a naturally aspirated V6. It's a 3.7L, and it does pretty good.

My truck has the tow package, so I'm riding on a 3.73:1 final drive ratio. That makes a difference if you're hauling (it's easier on the engine). If you ever plan on hauling heavy stuff in the bed, consider getting a truck that has a tow package.

Get a trusted mechanic to check a potential truck out before you lie down any cash.

Tundras are V6-only now, albeit, with a pair of turbos. You don't need a V8 and you definitely won't miss one. Heck, the V6 Turbo in the Tundra even sounds like a V8, more so than Ford's EcoBoost V6.
