I’m unsure of what vehicle to have for college/potentially the rest of my life. I’m deciding on a midsize truck specifically a frontier thinking of buying one that’s a about 5 yrs old or even brand new. I do like tacomas and the looks of Chevy/gmc midsizes. Another option is to take one of my parents cars they’ve owned an 05 Lincoln Navigator for 5 yrs now with 132k mi the air compressor on it was replaced and I’m a bit worried about the future of the air suspension.
Think about what you actually NEED right now. If I were a student I'd probably buy an affordable compact or sedan with good fuel economy. Family cars can be a good option, but a high end car like Lincoln could be a money bit.

I did think of a sedan but I do a bit of work and towing. I find more use owning a truck then a sedan. I currently drive in 08 frontier my parents have asked for this truck in a swap for the Lincoln or cash . My mother could use the truck for her business so my plan is to swap the truck but uncertain about the SUV since it can be useful but of course maintenance is very different.
If you can afford the Nissan Frontier I would get a 2019 model and avoid the 2020 as it is a new engine and transmission. If you are willing to wait until all of the issues on the new engine and transmission are gone. I would say to get a 2007-2012 Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon for a good used truck. Toyota Tacoma's are going to be the best trucks but are very pricey used, you would have to get a really older one with higher mileage.
