I have a 2008 Pontiac G6 with a 3.5L V6. Temp gauge stops working intermittently. When this happens, the engine fans run and engine acts like it doesn't know what temp it's at. Thought it was a wiring issue but scan tool shows correct temp. When I disconnect the temp sending unit the scan tool shows zero temp as expected. I'm not sure where to look since the scanner shows the correct temp. Disconnecting the battery reset the issue but I'm not sure if this was a coincidence. No error codes being shown.

Maybe you have air trapped in the system.
