My 2020 Subaru Impreza had a seal around the fuel pump fail resulting in a bad oil smell. My local dealer is replacing the gasket and tells me it didn’t damage the engine. Should I believe them?
I’d tell them to prove it. Every mechanic either dealer or independent of they tell me something I’m not sure about or try to sell me more then I came in for I always ask to show and prove to me it’s good to go.
Yes you should. The fuel pump is in the fuel tank. Nowhere near the engine.
Your car is still well under warranty, I’d just keep driving and see if anything seems off.
i do not think that it could’ve damaged anything but the gas pump, but again, you’re probably covered under warranty for a pretty long while so if it does go out - it’s not your issue 🙂.
