I have a 2020 Ridgeline RTL, what is your opinion about disabling the Honda Variable Cylinder Management system?

Part 2 - what are your thoughts about the Ridgeline GDI engine as I am considering installing an oil catch can to prolong the life of the truck and prevent failure as Honda is having issues with this…

I would install an oil catch can and yeah I I would turn off the variable system too I think it's nuts

Regarding VCM disable, see link below:  good idea to disable it;  however, you are under warranty and if you re-flash the ECU (per software in link below) and later need warranty work the dealer with their high-end scan tools  can tell the ECU has been flashed and deny warranty coverage.  So, I would wait until the warranty is up, but be sure to be on top of the engine oil changes (every 5,000 miles) since VCM system needs clean oil to operate properly.

Regarding carbon buildup, I would use a catch can - but it, too, can potentially void a warranty claim so you will have to remove it before going to the dealer for any service or work.
