Just bought a brand new 2021 Equinox with 1.5l turbo DFI engine. What has GM introduced to prevent carbon build up on these new engines?

Nothing that I am aware of. It’s not the turbo that’s the problem it’s the GDI/DFI system they stuck in the engine with it. DFI not only causes carbon buildup but that with a turbo usually spells disaster. Unburnt Gas gets forced past piston rings and the oil gets diluted with gas. I’ve seen owners of 2018’s and 2019’s having problems as early as 20k miles. Good Luck!
