I found a 1987 Celica GT convertible for sale near me for 1500 with some slight body dings and busted tail light but it only has 97,000 miles and it’s got the 5 speed manual

Scotty would give it a 11 out of 10. Bring it to a mechanic first, if everything checks out, it can be a great car just realize the age on it and the reliability will be reflected in the age but hey it is Scotty approved.

The mileage and price are good, but it sounds like it may have lived a rough life. At that price point, make sure you are not dealing with a salvage/rebuilt title. You want a clean title with no branding.
Definitely get it checked by a mechanic and if they say it is ok, go for it.
