Good deal on an Acura TL?

I'm not very informed on good used car prices and could use some help evaluating a price. What are your thoughts on a 2005 Acura TL, 85,000 miles, 6-speed manual transmission, clean title and supposedly in excellent condition with mostly highway miles. The private owner wants $6500. Is this a good price? I'd obviously do a thorough check myself and then take it to a mechanic for inspection before purchasing.

I've been reading reports of weak shifting into and popping out of third gear on these manual transmissions, is that a very common issue?

Those cars were bulletproof when equipped with the manual transmission. The price seems a little high, but then again it only has 85,000 on it. If you really like it and it checks out go ahead and buy it.

Not to bad. I would offer 5500-6000, much better with manual that auto trans by far. I would have it checked over. Test drive it taking off on a hill see if clutch is slipping any. I would plan on having to put one in by 110k. Never know what it’s been through.

Not a bad deal. If you can get any closer to $5000 you'll be doing well.

They can be good cars but they are often ragged out so a mechanical inspection is important.
