Hi Scotty! Big fan. I bought a 2013 Mazda 2 GX Sport, i4 1.5, 134K km or 83K miles, auto transmission, for $8600 CAD (~USD 6280) from a private dealership, after getting it inspected. 4 things were found: bad rear wiper, rusted oil pan, oil leak, and oil sweating probably caused by the O-ring, and my mechanic said these were normal, and can be fixed for around CAD700. I negotiated the price down from CAD8700 + taxes to CAD8000 + taxes. I came across your transmission video too late, but my mechanic did not say that the transmission was bad, but I'm worried. Have I just shot myself in the foot? I need a car to last me 2-3 years. What can I do to prolong the life of the transmission? (Here is a link to the Kijiji Ad.)
So you bought it from a "private dealership" which is just another name for a used car dealer? Good luck.
What can I do to prolong the life of the transmission?
Check the transmission fluid condition and act accordingly (See FAQ on this forum for more detailed information).
For just 2-3 years it should be fine.
