My El Camino conquista has 215k miles and my grandfather gave it to me.
Auto and would like to restore it.
Would it devalue the car/truck if I go 350.
I did live in Texas, and should have gone to you to hire you to restore before moving back to Colorado.
It is a California El Camino, and my grandfather bought it not far from the house in California back in the day brand new.
Would you like to restore it.
It runs and drives, just doesn't pass emissions.
The exhaust manifold is cracked. Could use work along the axles and everything under the hood. Which is why I think doing a restoration is best. It is garage kept.
What would I need for a drop in complete engine other than an electric fuel pump and exhaust manifolds?
Thank you for your help in advance.
What year is it? I don't feel the"newer" ones are worth that much, but I could be wrong so going a 350 would not be bad.
First, you don't have an electric fuel pump. The pump you have is mechanical on the front passenger side of the block. It's carbureted, not fuel in injected. Second, if it were mine, I would get a 350 crate motor from GM Performance and restore the vehicle. But then again, I love the old El Caminos. Or, you could get one of many re manufactured long blocks from people like Powertrain Products. I would also put an aftermarket fuel injection system on it for power and reliability.
