Do not rebuild your transmission.
Just get a certified tested and dynoed off-the-shelf transmission with good warranty from a reputable shop.

As has been already stated there are mechanic recommendations in the FAQ. There are only a few but I believe some are in the Houston area where Scotty used to live.
Scotty may or may not provide additional input here, it is up to him what questions he answers here personally. (He cannot answer them all.) The FAQ also contains instructions for contacting Scotty directly if you would like to try that.

Scotty has stated that it is best to go with a factory rebuilt transmission and that with with modern transmissions a significant percentage of local shop rebuilding jobs are not done correctly. (It's not like the old days with 2 and 3 speed automatics that had no electronics and were relatively simple to overhaul.)
