My 2010 Prius is having a heat issue.
I just did the Prius engine swap my old engine had 245K and head gasket death syndrome. (Daughter driving it did not tell me it had the morning death rattle and she know what it was. Kids!) It was ready to die any ways.
When you have heat on defrost, face vents or floor. The passenger side blows cold air. If you blow the heat on the vents (i call face vents) above the radio the center vent closes to the drivers side blow good heat and everything on the drivers side also. But the air on the center passenger side and everything else on the passage side is cold air except the defrost window vent on passage side has low heat.
I noticed air flowing on the passenger vent are not blowing air as strong as the drivers side.
Also when I was putting my car together and bleeding out the coolant system I let it run a good hour in mnt. mode. The heat on the passenger side got hot but not as hot as the drivers side.
Passenger side floor always blows cold.
When driving it takes for ever just to get any heat if you do out of the passenger side defrost vent. On a long trip had to stop buy duck tape to close the passenger vent or my daughter would have froze and passage window iced up.
I did the water hose flush the heater core and radiator when I swap the engine and it flowed water good didn't see any junk during the flush. Running new engine the heater core hoses do get hot.
With all the crazy info:
Do you think I have a ac/heat actuator issue or a plugged heater core?
If it's the heat core is there a way to pulling with out dismantling the dash and disconnecting the ac lines?
I heard there is a trick were you can remove the heater core by clipping a piece of the inner firewall under neath the steering wheel but not sure if it's true.
If it's ac/heat actuator anyone have pictures, diagrams or video on how to replace the ac/heat actuators?
I understand there are three ac/heat actuators in the 2010 Prius.
Thank you in advance.
The blend door on passenger side is stuck. Try to whack on the dash to see if it can be released.
OK, Ill try but can you give me a hint were to whack the dash. worth a try. Maybe it will work.
Are they the blend door actuators to the left of the clove box with white gears on the 2010 Prius?
