I haven't seen you talk about Mercury vehicles that often. What do you think of them? I used to have a 2007 Mercury Montego which I loved but unfortunately around 160,000 miles it rusted out, the engine started having problems, the AC stopped working, and I started having electrical problems all at the same time. What did you think of them back when they were still in production, and would you recommend buying a used one today?
TMK, Mercury doesn’t exist anymore as a brand, ending in the early 2010. It was owned by Ford, and Ford decided to focus more on the Ford and Lincoln brands.
If you see an older Mercury around, it is basically a Ford.
There are only one Mercury’s I would consider off the top of my head, the Mercury Grand Marquis.
The Mercury Montego is basically a Ford 500. Not sure about the quality or reliability of that specific Ford vehicle.
Yeah. That I did know. The Montego was great until it wasn't, lol. And I do love the Grand Marquis.
Same junk as ford.
Is that why Ford shut it down? Because they weren't selling well?
Yes pretty much.
Why buy a Mercury when you can just buy a Ford or a fancy Ford called Lincoln?
It didn't really serve anyone to keep Mercury going as long as they did.
