Hi, Scotty! Love the channel. I'm looking for a super reliable and cheap to maintain new car that has some personality. I really like the 2020/2021 Mazda MX-5 and saw your glowing review of that car. Would you recommend this car for a new long-term ...
Thanks!
Miatas, right out of the box, are very much designed to be daily drivers, … but not as a daily drivers for everyone!
For example, if you are, … say, a skiing instructor at your area’s ski hill, you probably are not interested in a convertible, and so, you most likely will elect an enclosed daily driver, perhaps one that has AWD drive train - snow ‘n such consideration.
Would, Miata, however, suffice as a daily driver for a skiing instructor? Sure, … get a proper set of snow tires, and perhaps some fancy-shmancy ski rack and off you go, …
But would you want that, … that is, if you are a skiing instructor at your local, or near by skiing resort?
Anyway, … I would just evaluate what is my daily driving like anticipated to be, first? Then, … and only then, I would select a suitable chariot for my daily driving! But that’s me, … I’m just quirky that way!
F.S.
The Miatas are excellent vehicles with the manual and they can be ok daily drivers. Are you going to use it as a daily driver? They probably aren’t designed for daily driving, but more of a weekend toy to drive around.
Yes, but function comes first. If a low to the ground convertible is fine for where you live, by all means they can be great cars.
