Hey everyone. I have a 2007 Toyota Camry with 140,000 miles and its an automatic transmission. I recently found a dead rat in the air conditioner blower. Not fun. I got the area cleaned up and bought a new cabin air filter but, when I turn the a/c on, I hear a hissing noise. It doesn't make the noise when the fan is blowing but a/c is off. Is this dangerous? And is there any way I can troubleshoot this issue. Thanks.
Does your A/C still work properly? Rats chew through stuff, even metal. It could have punctured one of your lines.
That's what I'm worried about. The heater works great and the a/c works pretty well. It's hard to tell if it lost cooling power. If so, it wouldn't be much.
If you had a leak it will lose freon running or not. And probably be empty and not working by now. It’s possible one of the lines go pinched or in the core. What your hearing is gas flowing through a constricted line. It isn’t dangerous but if it’s constricted enough it could cause problems raising pressure in the system. Have a tech look it over, out gauges on it and see if pressures are ok.
Gotcha. I'll do that. It seemed a bit beyond my scope. Thanks for the help!
