Hi Scotty, love your videos. I have a 2002 suburban 1500 z71. The old alternator was putting out 15.5 volts, i changed the voltage regulator and then it was putting out 16.5 volts. I bought a new alternator and its putting out 16.5 volts , where do ...

Well check the wiring. If wiring is corroded or loose it can bump the voltage up but more often that's just bad. Alternators or you got a weird gauge. It's giving you more voltage than it actually has. Perhaps have a pro just tested first

Have the alternator tested at the store you buy it at BEFORE leaving the store. Voltage reading at idle should be approximately 14.5.
