High Mileage engine oil?

Hi, is it recommended to start using oil for high mileage engines? I use Mobil 1 full synthetic  0W 20 on my 2014 Camry 2.5L with 105 000 miles. No problems so far, but I read that is good to start using oil for high mileage engines (75 000 or more miles) to protect from wear, seals, etc. Will it be good for the VVTI? Or should I stick to normal full synthetic?

Thanks!

Waste of money IMHO. A dealer tried to up sell it to me high mileage oil for an oil change.

I was like, “No thanks, I’ll just take the coupon discount oil change.” (the coupon discount is their loss leader).

@kaizen - You still go to a dealer?

Most of the time no. Occasionally yes, mainly oil changes. It all depends on my schedule and what part of town I am in. It’s usually only a coupon oil change, because they can do it faster and cheaper than me, relatively speaking.

But if there is no coupon or deal, then I’ll do it myself or take it to my mechanic(s). My mechanics are further out of town.

Anything besides the occasional oil changes are either me or my mechanic(s).

I can remember the two times in the last twenty+ years, I actually went beyond oil changes or warranty work: 1) Clutch for my Accord. This was when I didn’t know anything and just believed the dealer. In hindsight, I don’t think it needed to be changed, and I got charged wayyy to much.
2) Brakes for my Prius, before I knew how to do anything on the car. It was a good coupon deal, cheaper than independent mechanics.
