High Mileage Suburban Z71 over 300K. I don't know the vehicle's history or maintenance schedule. Should I change the transmission fluid and the differential fluid? Some say to change it. Others say that it increases the chances of something shellacked coming loose.
There is a pause before it engages when I put it in gear. But, overall it performs well. I change the oil once a year.

Axles and transmissions are completely different. Axles don't have clutches. You can change the fluid any time.

You transmission is well beyond its expected lifetime. It's plain worn out.
