High mileage

Hi Scotty, first off I am a huge fan. Second, I recently bought a 2011 Ford F150 work truck. I was told it was a city truck. Drove by city workers. It has 334,000 miles on it. It drives amazing to have so many miles. Really smooth drive. The day we bought it we only paid 3000 for it so we went and had some maintenance done. Oil change, radiator flushed, rear differential changed out. It was calling for a transmission flush but the mechanic said it would probably cause alot of damage if I did this so I didn't. Is that true? Also, there is a slight bump now when I stop. I'm wondering if that is the transmission or the drive shaft. With my truck driving as good as it does is it possible they have replaced the motor or transmission and how can I check to see if they have. Thanks a million. James Byrd

Check the fluid. If it's pinkish, or even red thats normal. If it's black  really dark,or burnt smelling, it could be bad to change it. But, see what it looks like and smells like. The tranny has probably been changed with those miles, but I'd see what the fluid looks like, and if it's starting to look dirty, it should be ok to change, from my experience..
