Howdy, I’m looking for a resource to teach my kids (and get them excited about auto mechanics) I was hoping someone here could point me to a video series teaching al about cars and mechanical basics in a fun way that will keep the attention of 7 year olds to 18 year olds. I have four boys in that age range that I would love to have them learn practical skills.
Thanks for your time!

They can also build their own V8 engine. The following is a kit I bought from Amazon and built with my nephew so he understands how engines work: when they are done it runs!

That is really cool
@daywalker I actually bought it before but I have to return it. It is because the cheap plastic pieces tend to break so easily. Some people are lucky to actually build it perfectly with nothing broken.

(website of Jason Fenske of Engineeering Explained). Go to his “Lessons” link which goes over the many aspects of a car and how they work (more in depth but still suitable for anyone).
I find these exciting. But they would probably bore your kids to death.

Same! The scaled down models and tests they show are incredible!
much better than modern videos overly complex explanations, CGI, and terrible robotic voices.
If you want to get them interested in cars what I recommend is finding a series that's just weird and funny experiments. There are plenty of series like that on YouTube and that's really the kind of thing that would inspire me as a kid to want to learn more about cars
(English subtitles are available)
As far as actual training on car maintenance? there aren't really any great resources expect for the one and only Scotty.
I don’t have anything in the way of Info to add here but would just like to say I applaud your efforts on this. Being in the trade and seeing the greener and greener kids are coming out of even trade schools (they aren’t exactly what they used to be) and the lack of interest in younger generations in learning a trade or manual labor I fear what Kind of work force there will be not incredibly far down the road..
Thank you to all of y’all! We will be exploring all those videos and hopefully get one of those kits- I really want my boys to have practical skills and to learn to puzzle things out and troubleshoot!
If you’re after American YouTube content, this an excellent channel producing Frankenstein projects (not affiliated in any way with them) -
Show them all of Scotty's videos. They will learn a lot and he's entertaining as hell. 😆
