Honda Accord Power Steering Reservoir and Fluid Change

I have a 1990 Honda Accord EX automatic with almost 150,000 miles on it. I have had mechanics change my power steering fluid in the past, but this time, I did it myself. I decided to pump out the fluid in the reservoir and refill to the max line, turn the wheels lock-to-lock, and then pump out the reservoir again. (Compared to detaching a tube and pumping the old fluid into a catchment basin, I thought this would be a lot easier, still get most of the old fluid out, and avoid the chance of getting air into the system.) Even after repeating that process for a total of five times, the fluid still looks pretty dark. (The new fluid, Honda Genuine Power Steering Fluid, is amber.) I used almost three bottles of the new stuff; that's about 34 fluid ounces. I can find very little information about my particular power steering system. It seems different than those I've seen on YouTube how-to videos: The reservoir seems to have a filter at the bottom and I can't pump the fluid out from it when sticking a hose in the top. Also, there are three hoses connected to it: two in the middle, and one at the bottom. I've seen only two hoses on the other reservoirs. So, what's up with my reservoir and should I replace the fluid differently to get a more complete flush? If so, how?

avoid the chance of getting air into the system

air doesn't stay in the system like brakes. Air gets pumped out.

If you really want clean it out perfectly then use the pump method. But it probably isn't necessary. It's probably fine the way it is now.
