Hi Scotty, I have a 2007 Honda Accord 3.0 V6 manual transmission with 176k miles. In the last 18 months, my mechanic has had to replace the radiator twice after having a sudden loss of coolant and engine running hot. It happened last week for a third time, and I'm pretty sure the radiator failed again. Is it worth trying an OEM Denso radiator instead of the cheaper aftermarket replacements, or could there be another underlying problem that's breaking the radiator? I'll also note that we've only been using the blue Honda coolant.
How did he conclude it was the radiator each time? Did you validate for yourself it was leaking from the radiator? Sometimes these aftermarket cheap radiators can fail; it happened to me a few years ago (although I paid a premium for my all-aluminum radiator but the company turned out cut corners at a critical seam) but I was able to validate the radiator was actually leaking before replacing. I then went with OEM and no issues since.
But you have to confirm the root cause in your case was the radiator.
Luckily this time the radiator was not the root cause. One of the cooling fan brackets rusted away and jabbed a hole in the radiator. New radiator, new cooling fan, new coolant, and I was back in business.
