[Solved] Honda Civic Jerks just before a complete stop

Hey Scotty,

Hello from Toronto. Few months ago, i bought a 2017 Honda Civic LX (2.0 L), automatic transmission, 50K kilometers, from a Honda dealership.

Since around a month, i noticed that when i come to a complete stop, the car jerks forward just before it completely stops. It is becoming very annoying. I have used Techron Chevron, cleaned the Mass Airflow sensor, cleaned the Mass Air intake, but that didn't help with issue.

Any help with clues to what might be happening is appreciated.

Thank you

J

I am the original post creator (@hondacivic65) , though I lost my access to that account.
I think I finally found out the issue, indirectly.
Today, the dealership needed to replace the AC Compressor, Condenser, and the AC clutch because the whole AC system was not working.
I have been driving the car all day since the replaced the whole system, and the issue is totally gone. I am not really sure how could this affect the little car jerk, but it is totally gone.

I am posting this here in case someone faces this issue for this Honda Civic generation.

What an interesting fix.. Thanks for posting back!

No problem. Hopefully someone finds it useful if they faced similar issue in the future.

Doubt if it’s engine related, unless it did it at a particular rpm.

I’d scan for any codes.

Start with checking the transmission fluid level. It may also be a faulty solenoid within the transmission or the vehicle speed sensor, acting up.

Thank you for the fast reply. I'll definitely need to take it to my mechanic since i don't have the tools to check the suggested options.

No worries. Please keep us posted with the diagnosis & potential repair. Good luck.

Is there any update on this issue? My brand new 2021 civic has this same issue and I really want to get it fixed. Bringing it to the dealer on the 15th.

@zelda4u yours should be still under warranty. Take it back to the dealer & if they can’t figure it out, demand a new car.

Have an appointment on the 15th. Will update here with what they say
