Hiya Scotty!
I have a 2012 Honda Civic with only 83,000km. A year ago I was being stupid and raced someone up a on-ramp to get onto the expressway. Shortly after the car would slightly stutter while shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear.
I took it to a mechanic and he put in a transmission additive which stopped the stuttering and it's been great ever since.
My question to you is:
- In the future would you ever change the transmission fluid in this car?
- Does this also mean I should "never-ever" change the transmission fluid?
- If I never change the fluid won't this eventually harm the transmission in the future?
This car still has very low kilometers and I'm worried if I do any kind of fluid swap the stuttering might return.
- What would you do?
Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Yes, no transmission fluid is actually "lifetime" fluid.

When you service an automatic transmission, only what's in the pan actually comes back out. There's stil fluid in your torque converter and the lines going to and from the transmission's cooler.

I might change it and keep the fluid if it starts acting up again. This is why you don't race other people driving up on ramps. You risk damaging your car if it wasn't designed to basically street race. Only Type R's you would really want to drive enthusiastically; they're basically designed for it.
