https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3017215731935517/ Hey Scotty, I’m thinking of buying a 2001 Honda S2000 as first project car to learn more about how to work on cars.
Found a interesting one in San Antonio for 10,000 from a private seller, with presumably a blow head gasket.(I’ll attach a link to the car)
I was wondering if replacing a head gasket would be too big of a job?Considering the already hefty price of 10k plus 1200 or so for a new head gasket assembly.

I sure would appreciate any advice or recommendations for a young guy getting into cars.

P.S. I love the videos and I’ve learned so much about, not just cars but also life in general and HOW TO NOT GET SCREWED hahaha! You really are a blessing sir keep up the great content!

The rebuilt head is $564 from Autozone and the gasket kit is another $70 or so, but the problem is, you have no idea what else is screwed up on the engine.  What if he bent a rod or punctured a piston after the coolant hydro locked to cylinder.  $10K?  It's a lot of labor and parts only to find out the motor is toast after you get it apart.  If it were me, I'd offer him $2k to get it out of his yard or walk away.  And you haven't even considered a timing chain, water pump, idler pulley not to mention a new radiator, thermostat, fan clutch and who knows what else.
