My 90 year old Dad has decided to quit driving and gifted me his 2000 Honda Accord Sport. 53,000 miles! Looks brand new. I have researched this car and it seems the transmissions are junk. Maybe get 90,000 miles out of them before they start to give you problems. What can I do now to avoid what many Honda owners have had to deal with regarding these tranny failures? Thanks for any help you can pass on to me!

Presumably you're talking about automatic rather than standard transmission - you didn't specify.
About all you can do is baby it. Depending on how it's been serviced over the last 23 years it may be appropriate to change the fluid and filter. (See the FAQ for details.)
