How do I make this car last? 2014 Mazda 6 Touring

I bought this car used with the hopes to maintain it and would like to know the life expectancy of these types of vehicles on average. It's a Mazda 6 2014 touring. 2.5 Liter 4 cyl SkyActiv-G engine. It came with 59k on the odometer. I've driven it for about a week now and the ride is smooth everything seems to function fine. However, I took it to a mechanic a few days ago for this creaking noise it makes when its in drive, braking or not, at low speeds only (basically, coming out of parking spots), as you turn the wheel to either side but usually at the end of the steering adjustment.

Basically what I'm saying is it makes a creaking sound when I turn the wheel.

Now the mechanic said it's the struts and that he greased it up to help it out but it is probably an issue that could persist for 100k miles or a 1k fix. And that either way shouldn't be an issue to worry about.

Should I be worried?

As long as it does not affect the handling and you can live with it, it is fine.

could you elaborate on how it wouldn't affect overall longevity?

Since it does not affect your powertrain.
