Hello all, im across the US, and my brother (lives on northeast part of the US) is looking at a 2014 subaru cross trek with 175,000 miles, for $8,000. He thinks he can recoup money with it in a year with the crazy car prices, but I can't convince him to look at toyota RAV4s of Honda CRVs with half that milage for close to that price. He claims that he "doesn't fit" well in them (hes 6'4 on a good day, 215 lbs)...how do I save time and money from so far away?

Thanks.

"How do I keep my brother from making dumb decisions"? That's more of an advice column question - that hasn't been effectively answered yet. Hey, at least he isn't investing in crypto, joining a multi-level marketing scam or marry a Kardasian.

Maybe set a more modest goal - get him to have it inspected (especially for rust  in the northeast), make sure it has a clear title, find what comparable prices are around there on autotrader.com.

By the way, Subaru didn't make Crosstreks until 2016 - maybe he's looking at a different model https://www.carcomplaints.com/Subaru/Crosstrek/
