As long as you keep the valves clean you should be ok long term.....
What is the correct way to clean the valves?
regular servicing on injectors and injection systems, EFI direct injection should last a decent amount of years. dirty or clogged injectors are a common issue be it direct injection or otherwise do to lack of servicing, same as carb issues.. fuel injector failures that i have seen are the internal spring loosing tension or braking. ecu's are prone to failures depending on make and model of vehicle and position in vehicle.
I wouldn't be interested in GDI engines. Port injection is just fine thank you.
