How long will my F-150 last

How many miles can a 3.5 2012 Ecoboost engine can last? I bought a f 150 for $15,000 with a 2 year warranty. The internet says around 250,000 miles. I'm wondering what your thoughts are. Mine has 170,000 miles. Any thoughts? It's a well maintained truck with one owner a clean Carfax and oil changes every 5,000 miles.

Well, the engine oil, and the ATF has been mentioned. I would add the rear differential fluid every 30-45k miles, and if it's a 4x4 the front differential fluid and transfer case fluid. Plus all the other Ford recommended maintenance items in the maintenance schedule ( either in the owners manual or a separate pamphlet).

Since you are the 2nd owner, and the 1st towed, then you have no way of knowing.

It also depends on what you mean by "last".  Anything can last with enough cash input. The real question is at what point do you consider it "finished". The transmission can fail tomorrow.

You changed the engine oil regularly. How about the ATF? The transmission is another thing you need to watch for.

Do you tow with the truck?

He didn't change it. He said the previous owner did.

The transmisson was recalled around 150,000 miles and redone as per carfax. The previous owner definitely used the truck to tow. The Carfax report shows oil changes from Michigan to Florida. I'm guessing there are at least 20,000 highway miles. It drives great plenty of power, no issues with the transmisson at all. I plan on changing the oil every 5,000 miles. I'm hoping to get at least 250,000 miles. Anything you would recommend? And the 4 wheel drive works amazingly.

I worry that the ecoboost engine will have issues sooner rather than later, especially since it was used to do a lot of towing.  However, it is running good right now just keep it extremely well maintained and go from there.  Locate the maintenance schedule and go by it, and if there is something on there you are not sure has been done when it should have been go ahead and have it done and note when and what miles.  Calculate the next maintenance for that item based on the date and miles when you just did it, if that makes sense.

Just take extra good care of it to help it to last as long as possible.  I've seen folks driving vehicles that as a rule don't last as long as others but were extra finicky about maintenance and that helped stretch out the life of the vehicle by quite a bit.
