How would you go about diagnosing a car that had been sitting for 5 years?
Suppose it is a 15 year old car. For 10 years it ran fine. It was given for free to someone that needed it. They know nothing about cars.
When a problem arose, they got a friend to try to fix it. And they were on their way to fixing it. But the person fixing it, with the knowledge of what was wrong with the car, has since passed away.
The problem could be simple. Or the problem could be more than the car is worth. But there is no telling.
How would you go about diagnosing the problem to this car?
What year, make, model, mileage, and condition?
It may not even be worth looking into. Sitting it the worst thing that can happen to a car. Things you can automatically count on doing:
1. New tires
2. Drain the fuel tank
3. Drain the oil
4. Drain the fuel lines
5. Replace the battery
There will be more but just depends on how those items go.
In this specific case, Mazda Tribute 2004ish. Mileage unknown. Guess: 120-150K.
Thanks for the suggestions.
well it's like if you go to the doctor and ask "What's wrong with me?"
He'll say, "I don't know. You tell me. What symptoms are you having?"
