Does anyone know of a legitimate website one can find vehicle owner using license plate or VIN number? I don't mind paying for the report as long as it's a legitimate report containing the information I want. Someone swiped side of my car so trying to find owner (and yes I tried reporting as an accident but police wouldn't do anything because it's not a huge damage and I also don't want to file insurance claim).
Why? That's what insurance is for. You have to go through the proper channels.
If you want compensation for the damage, then file an insurance claim. If not then forget about it and move on.
I don't think you can investigate info like that yourself without a valid court case. Can you imagine the vigilantism, retaliation, stalking, murders etc. if anybody could just go to a website!?
So insurance wants a police report filed which thanks to where I live something like this is of least importance for police to even file the report. I basically just gave up on this part after being on hold for a long time multiple times. Filing an uninsured motorist claim will have an impact on my insurance price too (yes I was not at fault but it will increase it a bit). I was hoping I can use the footage I have and the owner report/information and basically do the work myself and then my insurance deals with theirs.
Hire a private investigator. Have a cop as a close friend.
