How to properly install License Bracket 1947-53 Chevy

Hello,

I have a 1951 Chevy 3100 Pickup. I do not know the mileage.

The license bracket will not go on right side up due to the hinge for the tailgate being in the way, even though it is installed properly. I can put a license plate on, but it does not go on evenly. I called the people who sold this part, which is Brother's, and they said they have no information. They said they would email or call me about it, but they never did. This was over 3 months ago. I also asked their YouTube channel, and they said call the shop, since they didn't have a video about their own part. I also emailed them, and they never got back to me.

I'd really appreciate any help, thank you.

I don't know if this helps but it appears the bracket is supposed to be mounted to the left outside the edge of the tailgate.

I found the problem, the holes were drilled about half an inch off target. Since the holes were drilled off target, they meet up with the target, and if I drill a hole now the screw won't stay. How can I fix this problem?

Rotate the bracket 180 degrees.

I've tried that, and as I said, it will not go because the hinge is in the way. The license plate bracket hits the hinge and it will not go that way.
