How to trouble shoot a crankshaft and camshaft position senor?

I just bought a 2012 Toyota camry SE, 2AR-FE motor with 180,000 miles on it.  Check engine light is on and it's throwing codes p0340 and p0016. What is the most efficient and effective way of troubleshooting those codes?

If not a sensor problem you need to dig deeper.
