Low idling on 2011 CRV

  1. I have a 2011 Honda CRV. It seems to idle low but even lower during day time hours. It idles around 600 rpms during the day and around 800 at night. I cleaned the mass airflow connector. That seemed to make it run better at first, but the low idling returned. I'm wondering if I should just try to replace the mass air flow connector? Or should I attempt to clean the throttle body? Along that line, do you recommend having the throttle body cleaned by a mechanic or is that something I could attempt on my own? Thanks for your response Scotty.

Maybe because air is denser at night because it’s colder? Not sure. More air mass=more power=higher idle? Watch Scotty’s video “make your car run better with a little spray cleaner”. Clean the maf sensor itself and the throttle body. If that doesn’t fix it though and it runs fine otherwise and doesn’t sputter and die, I don’t think it’s necessary worrying too much about it. A variation of 200 rpm isn’t that much. I have a 2011 LX fwd, I’ll check and let you know what my idle speed is though. What’s the mileage on yours btw?
