[Solved] New Hyundai Palisades vs used Lexus RX350

I'm looking for an upscale SUV - I am considering the RX350.  I'm hoping to find one that's a couple of years old but I stumbled upon an ad for the Hyundai Palisades and I'm impressed.  For the same price as a used RX, I can pick up a new 2020 Palisades.

My question: I want this vehicle to last 200+ thousand miles without major expenses, or falling apart.  My last two cars, 2007 RX350, and the Highlander 2011 have come very close. Is Hyundai up to the challenge??

Thanks so much for you expertise.

I don't think Hyundai would compare to Lexus in terms of luxury, comfort, and brand name.
However, if it's reliability you're after Hyundais can be ok (it would not match Toyota though).
My family has owned a Veracruz before, and it was almost trouble-free for the first 100k miles. After that, you should expect some random things going out here and there. But if you change the fluids on time, nothing major should happen to around 200k miles. We had to do an engine repair around 200k miles and sold the car after that. so I would consider the life expectancy of that vehicle 200k miles
Considering that Palisade uses a Hyundai/Kia "GDI" engine which is not known for reliability, I would lower that life-expectancy figure.

The Hyundai Palacade, and Hyundais and Kias in general, are not well made cars. It would be one thing if you were only planning on keeping it a few years but it will not last you 200,000 miles. A used RX350 or a used Highlander will last way longer than a new Palacade.

RX350

Also no way is the Palisade doing more than 100k miles, let alone 200k.

There’s a reason they’re so cheap, it’s because they just don’t hold up over time.

Why would you want to burn your fingers on a Korean product after already owning super reliable Toyota products?

Keep calm & get your second RX350.

The Hyundai’s are nice but they are not reliable. That’s coming from someone who owns one. Absolute worst car I’ve ever owned. Nothing but problems after 60,000 miles.
