Hey all.....I bit the bullet and purchased a 2020 Dodge Charger, used with 37k miles from the same dealer who sold it new, with a V8 Hemi.

My question is....I do not like the cylinder deactivation (called MDS). I noticed that when Im coasting, the 4 cylinders deactivate and when I get back on the gas, it makes a quick deep humming sound as the 4 deactivated cylinders begin working again. Does anyone have experience with turning this off? Ive red where with newer Dodge vehicles, you have to "unlock" the PCM in order to turn the MDS option off.

Also saw it mentioned that when you turn off the MDS, many are upgrading their lifters and cam. Why would they do this?

Any of you guys have experience with this? Would this void the warranty? Thanks everyone.

Yes, it will void the warranty.  Most people buy an online dongle that plugs in the OBDII port to deactivate the MDS.  The problem with the Hemis is that the hydraulic roller lifters fail prematurely and grind away the cam shaft.  It requires removing the heads and replacing the cam and the roller lifters with high quality, aftermarket parts.  The Hemis are well known for this expensive repair.  If it occurs, I hope it does during your warranty.
