I have a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer ext ls with the 4.2l i6 and every time i go over 4,000 rpm the water pump breaks and ive already had the belt replaced as well as coolant it has happened a total of 4 times and i dont know what it could be, also my obd2 doesnt give power to my scanner and ive already replaced the fuses what could it be?
Could it be the radiator fan or the fan clutch because it wobbles a bit
Well yes, if the water pump has an out-of-balance fan mounted to it that puts excessive stress on the water pump bearing.
water pump breaks
"breaks" how?
The first and 2nd time the bearing of the water pump just gave up the 3rd time it literally cracked from 2 of the spots where the bolts hold it
bearing of the water pump just gave up
What brand of pump? Maybe they were just low quality.
Make sure the serpentine belt, and the tensioner is in good shape. They wear out after time.
Make sure you have adequate antifreeze (which contains corrosion inhibitors) in the cooling system. Use a tester.
the 3rd time it literally cracked from 2 of the spots where the bolts hold it
Make sure you torque the bolts to specifications:
1st pass: 35 in-lbs
2nd pass: 89 in-lbs
Maybe your block is warped. Did it ever overheat?
No overheating issues, the belt is good and I am pretty sure it is good I got it from O'Reilly. Could it be the radiator fan or the fan clutch because it wobbles a bit when idling but after revving it up it visibly wobbles less
It only got 210° but that was because of the water pump but I hope it isn't that is there any way to check if my block is warped other than removing everything. To give more context it runs great just a little bit of vibration at idle I've already replaced the spark plugs the vibration is only during idle but it comes back at around 3500 rpm and gets worse at 4000 and if I stay in 4000 the water pump fails after about 10 seconds.
