Hello everyone,

I am looking to buy a used 2012 Honda accord with 142,000 miles on it. I has a rebuilt title but the damage was only for the front bumper and hood, engine and other components were not touched. I was thinking if it's a good deal for $4500?

Thank you for you comments.

Don't buy a rebuilt, particularly if you've not had it thoroughly inspected by a diagnostic mechanic, with the "proverbial fine tooth comb."

Below, Scotty tells you (and everyone else) why this is a bad idea:

I would avoid it unless you get it for like 2500 bucks and a mechanic says its in good shape now.

Keep in mind wrecked cars way start having mechanical and electrical issues years after the accident but not now, so you might be buying a future headache. Scotty has videos on it (one was a few weeks ago with a white 2014-2016 Corolla with a salvage title but I wouldn't find it, if someone else can it could be helpful).

If you go through the many previous posts on salvage titles, you will see that fellow question answering members stress that a salvage title car is worthless and literal junk. I also think that they are asking too much for a rebuilt car. If it was lets say from hail damage or something like that I would have haggled hard and maybe given it a look.

As always, if you do decide to look at it, make sure to have a trusted mechanic check it out fully and make its in good shape. If not, walk.

Thank you for your comments. I checked the damage and no air bags were deployed and frame of the car wasn't damaged. It was just both fenders, headlights, hood and bumper. Nothing else was touched. Also I will take it to the mechanic to fully inspect the car and tell me.

Here's my question and problem: If the front end, the fenders, the bumper, the hood and headlights were involved, then why didn't the air bag deploy? I think you should keep asking questions until you are satisfied before making a decision to buy it, such as the one I asked, to whichever mechanic you have checking it. Good luck.

I did that to my car and airbags didn't deploy.

If you do get it at the price point you want. I Would like to add to be sure that you are indeed okay being stuck with it for the rest of it's life. Even being a low miles accord, that rebuilt is just as good of a deterrent as a salvage title.
