Help
I've been taken for a ride at a local mechanics shop! I brought my Jeep in for an issue that could not be diagnosed from a code reader (only said misfiring). The Jeep upon a cold start would studder, loose power, surge, and slightly backfire until about 10 minutes later and warmed up or going more than 45 miles per hour. Once started, the problem would not return for the rest of the day no matter how long it sat, only to return the following day on a cold start.
The problem has not come with the mechanic shop I was using that they told me it was the distributer cap, so we replaced that and the problem did not go away. Then they told me it was the timing chain, so we replaced that TWICE! The problem went away for about 4 days and then came back! I gave up after that and I don't have the money or patience to keep changing parts!
Scotty help! I'd even be willing to trailer the car to your shop to have it looked at!
Thanks
P.s. I also have a YouTube channel where I explained the whole ordeal but I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link to the video.?!
I see the mechanics tried the shotgun method and failed lol damit 70% of the time it works all the time lol jokes aside, I would have said distributor cap since when they get moisture they do tend to sputter a little bit until the water evaporates due to heat, but since that is replaced, I'm curious why they haven't checked the ECT ( engine coolant temp) sensor. Could also be called the CTS (coolant temp sensor) That sensor provides coolant data which tells the computer to turn controls for the air fuel ratio to the engine, when they do go bad the side effect is having poor cold performance. Could also be something as simple as o2 sensors, easy enough to check out. Hope it works out for ya, if said suggestions have been previously addressing your YouTube videos, whoops...
