2 key questions - 1. Will this be your only car/daily driver? 2 Realistic budget.
Do you want a recommendation, or we should just guess? Used Miata or new M3?
Hint, the more cars get the mod/tune/rip around treatment, the less mean time between failure.
Mod, tune, and rip means you won't have reliability.
Just as with any machine, push it hard and it will break. Reliability is the first thing to be sacrificed in the name of speed and power. It has just always been the case.
The Civic SI is a good car to play with, but realize that you will not be getting the best reliability out of it if you plan on modifying it heavily.
More needs to be shared here before a quality recommendation can be made. Budget? Daily or toy only? That can at least get some answers coming.
