Hey scotty,

I have a problem with choosing a car. I have a couple of options, a f30 2013+ 335i, or a 2013+ Toyota Avalon. With the 335i depreciation, they cost around the same, but I need your opinion on how reliable these two cars are. I know that the Avalon is reliable, but I can only find ones with like 100k miles for the same price as a 335i with like 50-70k miles. I just want to know all the problems that I can expect from these two cars at these mileages (50k-70k and 100k), and higher, since I am going to daily them. both auto btw. (basically I just need a list of problems from both cars. mileage for 335i- 50-70k mileage for avalon-100k)

thanks

I personally would go for the 100K mile Avalon than the 50-70K 335i.

I personally think BMW’s are “reliable”, BUT they cost an arm and a leg to maintain.

Toyota’s are definitely reliable, and cost significantly LESS to maintain, and generally need LESS maintenance than a BMW as they age.

If cost of repair and maintenance isn’t an issue, go with the BMW.  If cost of repair and maintenance is an issue, go with the Toyota.
