hi Scotty i have a 2006 mercedes e350 4matic, automatic transmission, shy of 130k miles. i went to put in a battery and put the connections on wrong. the car has no power and sparks when i try to jump it im at a loss. what do i have to do to fix it? what could have been damaged? is it worth fixing? the car is in very good shape otherwise besides the current situation.
Sensitive electronics can all be damaged. You are quite lucky that the battery didn't explode or catch on fire.
If you are lucky a couple fuses and modules and solenoids and you'll be in the clear only to having to live with phantom electrical problems for the rest of the life of the vehicle.
If you are unlucky, also being a benz they have more electrical sensitivity than most besides bmw rn I think. Everything be fried that is connected directly to the 12 volt. Get an inspection to review the damages. That's the only way you will know for sure. Beyond that is only speculation.
1. Check your fuses
2. Hope your fuses where blown
3. Hope the computer was not damaged
4. Good Luck
You most likely fried your ECU and other modules if the car is not starting up or even getting any power.
