I purchased a 2014 Ram 1500 2x4 with the 3.6l Pentastar engine for 12,000 It has 138680 miles with no check engine light or stored codes. It runs and shifts perfectly fine. What immediate steps should i take to keep it running in tip top shape?
Should i be worried? I've heard bad things about the Pentastar engine.

well yes. The Pentastar should be generally avoided
Well I'm not a fan of the engines or the vehicles myself but you bought it. Change the engine oil and filter every 5,000 mi with synthetic fluid. Have a good mechanic like myself. Do a full checkout of the car. Pull out the wheels. Check the brakes. Check everything to see what may need replacing in the future and of course baby it. If you baby it it will last longer. If you drive like a maniac the transmission will go out
I have a piston from a 2011 Dodge Journey with that engine. I found it in the junkyard in 2020. Fiat-Chrysler didn't manufacture the cylinder heads on the driver's side properly and they wound up having issues in earlier engines; somebody prior to me had taken out the driver's side cylinder head and left the rest of the motor lying on the ground. Somebody else took the oil pan out. I think my piston was #4, as the middle cylinder on the left side had no piston in it.
I used to work at a plating shop, and I brought in the different elements for plating, then I reassembled the piston.
Starting in 2013, FCA corrected the issue, so I think you're clear.
