Hi Scotty,
I recently bought a 1999 C5 Corvette- LS1 engine, Manual trans, T-top convertible, New clutch, came with dealer service records. I didn't notice it when I bought it, but found out later the guy put an aftermarket exhaust on it too...Its loud haha.
Its in pristine condition, but it has a squeak on start up, that increases in frequency when you accelerate. (Could this be a belt?) The squeak eventually goes away when the car gets warmed up, which is why we never heard it the day we bought the car. What could this be?
Also, we had the car looked at and they found a small power steering leak at the rack and pinion and a small transmission leak. Should I be worried about these?
Am I in for a lot of repairs ?
Thanks,
Lori

The answer to both your questions is YES.
I would take care of the leaks sooner rather than later.
As for the squeak, it could be a belt OR it could be the harmonic balancer. I would check to see if you have any wobble with the balancer before driving the car further. Corvettes are famous for issues with them and if they come off, you will have serious problems.
How many miles does it have? Realize a clutch job will be $1000+ on that car.
It is fine just put a quieter muffler on it and take off the belt, check the pulleys and replace the belt if that is it. And the small trans leak can be fixed easily. And since it is a small leak it should be fine. Just wait till it gets really bad to replace it.
