Hey Scotty, I just found you on YouTube a few weeks ago. I've been looking at a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire with 37,000 miles.  I heard that they have Mercedes engines. Do you think that it would be a good car?

Whether you look at it as an 18-year-old Chrysler or a Mercedes of the same age, it's likely to be a money pit.

An 18 year old car with 37K miles?  Highly suspect.  Is this a dealer or private party car?  Have you had it inspected yet, compression test?  What is the price?  Service records?  Which transmission?

It's from a dealer. It is a 5 speed auto. Their asking $11,300 for it, also their offering a 3 month warranty🤣🤣. I haven't even gone to look at it, I'm just looking around.

When they were out new, I sat in one and you can't see out of the thing, holy blind spots batman. OMG, what a terrible car and now it's 18 years old, heck no. Endless money pit.

Nope.

The milage is unrealistic, it probably has more - and 11 grand is A LOT for such an old car.

And dealers are the worst people to buy from - they know how to scam on a professional level.

Yes, it was built during the time of Daimler-Chrysler.

It's based on an early 90s Mercedes (W202 / R170) and it has a Mercedes powertrain.

The Mercedes M112 V6 engine is not too bad, but the 5G-Tronic (722.6) is of bellow average reliability.

The real issues with this car are electronics - they're quite terrible and awful to repair.

Do you think that it would be a good car?

It is a European based 18 year old Mercedes-Chrysler (Daimler-Chrysler) product.

For 11 grand? no way. If it was much cheaper than maybe it'd be a reasonable toy.

Also I do not believe the milage one bit - likely has been rolled back, so I would not recommend it...

It’s basically a Mercedes SLK in Chrysler skin. It was made when Daimler merged with Chrysler. Daimler just handed Chrysler the older SLK platform and said have it. Then Daimler created a new SLK platform for it Benz brand.
